Trailblazer in Political Leadership Award
Hon. Yvonne Brathwaite Burke
Yvonne Brathwaite Burke is a trailblazing politician and lawyer, becoming the first African American woman elected to Congress from California. Her decades-long public service career includes leadership roles in the California State Assembly and the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors, where she championed equality and community development and was the first African-American and woman to serve in that role.
Sister in Solidarity Award
Alyce Pipkin-Allen
Alyce Pipkin-Allen is a dedicated community leader and activist, deeply engaged in empowering Black women and promoting voting rights. She founded The Black and African Women Rise Democratic Club and has been a driving force in political advocacy, both locally and nationally.
